Lately, we've had a lot of suggestions about features that should be added to RE.

Whilst we welcome your opinion, and encourage your ideas, you must keep in mind:

- We are NOT I'mNotOkay.net.
And nor do we want to be.
If you have joined RE simply because it's another Dujo-created message board, you shouldn't be here.
We pride our message board on being a great community for A7X fans, as well as those who have moved on from A7X, but maintain friendships here.
The admin team does not want this board to be compared with INO, in terms of its site and layout.
So, as one user put it, if you think RE is boring and needs more features from INO, then please just stay on INO.

- RE has a very small portion of users.
We only have a maximum of eight users on at one time, usually.
So ideas such as chatrooms are useless, because they'd be a waste of time.
If you think your idea will fit in well with RE's amount of users, then there's nothing stopping you.

- What the mods/admins say, goes.
If we dismiss a suggestion, we usually have very good reason for doing so.
We know how to run the message board, so please don't second guess our judgement.
Don't hassle us if we say no to your idea.
Our word is final, and we'd expect you to be considerate of that.

If you therefore think your idea is still a good one, go ahead and post it.
But be prepared for some backlash if it crosses paths with either of the first two points.

Anndd so my idea of changing the layout and such is alright?

Also, about the members, I think it needs to be more active. I'd advertise it around but I was told not to, but there are barely any posts a day.

Edit: How far along are the admins on workings on the new stuff?

I do not deal with the coding or the look of the site. Dujo does that alone.
My ADMIN status is for the site's main page: meaning that I update and control everything that is on that front page and I am the admin on the message board meaning that I have more powers/privellages than the moderators do. However: I work with the mods on the forums to keep it in order rather then dictating to them what to do and what not to do.

Dujo has given no indictation to me about when the new look and such will be up. However I need to email him about it so I can try to get a more concise timeline for it. When I do: it will be announced on the Site Announcement thread which can be found in the S'Up Y'all Forum

Why do you want everything changed so badly?
Did you not read the original post?
This isn't INO. It's never going to be INO. No one would ever want it to be INO.
Have you noticed that you're the only user who is pushing to get more active users (something that cannot actually be consciously changed by any existing member) and to change the layout of the site?
If you hate it so much, why the hell are you on here?
It's just an aesthetic, the board is not about the layout, it's about the community that use the facilities and communicate with each other.

There's nothing wrong with suggesting ideas, but quit beating the shit out of them.
You've got your answers, so stop asking. And stop complaining. It's all getting frightfully annoying.

INO
The owner of INO is also the owner of RE. Dujo has quite a few message boards floating around, INO and another Green Day board, are his two most popular.

The ideas themselves aren't bad, or 'against the rules' or anything like that.
But admittedly, I think I can speak on behalf on the mods and Stormy when I say we do feel quite pestered by some users.
We do all we can to try and run this site as well and smoothly as possible, and that includes updating the site with any opportunity.

In saying that - and I mean absolutely no offence to Dujo, because there are much larger boards he concentrates on - RE does get overlooked because of how small it is.
Yet, as most of us know, this board was updated last year, in around... July and the months that followed. We all loved it, but it was never a huge deal for us.
And now suddenly, the site's layout and design has become a massive issue for users.

So, it seems that lately, a few 'newer' users have had an issue with the way things are set up on this message board.
And like Ella (buhryan elvin haynuh) mentioned, essentially what should encourage you to use Radiant Eclipse isn't how fancy the site looks.
I mean, sure that plays a huge part in actually attracting users, but once you've joined up, surely you can make a more educated judgement that the site's layout isn't the basis of this message board?

I don't mean to sound like a rude, obnoxious power-tripping mod.
But from a moderator's perspective, we are getting bugged with constant demands.
We're suddenly getting told by users that it is boring, and I dunno - visually unappealing. We're not getting requests, we're essentially getting demands. And that's the most annoying thing about it, I think.
We are working to fix this site. But in the meantime, cut us a little slack, y'know?

I'm not saying it's YOU in particular, but it's a build of these such demanding users that perhaps, all it took was for you to constantly put your ideas across.
We do the best we can to meet the users' expectations and wishes, but quite a few users seem to forget that we have lives outside of this message board.

I'm suggesting you guys fix it. Not demanding it. I'm staying here whether you change the layout or not.

But I'm just saying it needs a newer A7X look. Shadows now has his hair buzzed, the skull thing at the top right is kind of outdated, Johnny doesn't have moahawk anymore,. IS the guy on the left The Rev? Because that doesn't even look like him. (I'm talking about the top pictures)

You're saying you have to stay around the site/message board and get to know people, but if the site isn't appealing then how can that attract new users?

Jules (jemi owhen suleevhan) speaks eloquently on this matter.

A majourity of RE users are coming over from INO and are expecting it to be a carbon copy. We are not nor will we ever be (even if RE should swell to that size).
We have had users complaining about the lack of 'features' on this board and their main defense for wanting it is: INO has it.

The look of the site has been addressed before. However it has always kind of fallen on the back burner. When the site had its update to this format over last summer, it was a possibility, but it didnt' happen. No one really bothered with it. Now we're looking at another update (which might have sparked some of this new look and new features demand since it was announced) so we are looking at getting a new banner...

The mods and myself have no control over what Dujo puts on this site. If he were to decide to suddenly make it have ads all over the place or a deathbat cursor (don't ask: it won't happen) we can't change that. So when users are telling us (not asking) if we can get them blogs etc on the site: its annoying and frustrating because we can't just make it happen. Then when they're told its not going to happen: some users tend to get very upset and angry when it is out of our control.

The site is getting updated. What EXACTLY Dujo is going to give for more 'user options', I have no real idea.

At its core: RE is a website dedicated to Avenged Sevenfold and is for discussing the band and mainly interacting with fans of the band world wide. It is not about chat rooms, blogs, etc.

Aesthetically the site might be a bit outdated, however: the information on this site is updated as often as members post it and as often as I can get it up on the site's actual page (I am only one person and I do have duties beyond updating the site's main pages). The forums don't move very fast; but it makes it easier to keep track of what's going on with each others lives. We have enough users so that you have options on who to talk with but not so many users that you're not constantly going "Who are you???".
Our photo threads are buzzing with new pictures.
If a banner keeps people from coming back: then I question their desire to want to have a place to just relax, have fun and be around people who have similiar musical interests. Its a banner: nothing else.

And yes: we are looking seriously at getting a new one: Dujo has approved the change: but that is the most insignficant change that will happen on this board. Because it won't change (none of the new 'gagdets' we're getting) what RE is and the users on it.

Getting a new banner and new features won't make RE suddenly INO.
People shouldn't expect it and users need to remember that ASKING or REQUESTING gets them farther then whining and demanding. Also that the mods and myself here are not goddesses over this site: we don't do the coding, so getting the new things takes time.

I'm not whining or demanding, I'm requesting.

About the INO part, I don't give a rats ass if it looks like it or not, if you (other people) want blogs and shit, go get a Myspace. I didn't even know what an INO was untill jemi ohwen told me. I thought it was some kind of acronym or something and was trying to figure it out.

No one has said YOU were doing the whining or demanding.
There have been a number of users in the past month or so that have been demanding, and it's taken its toll. That's all.

And again, we're not saying it's YOU who wants blogs or whatever.
We're addressing the entire board, please remember that.
