Okay. So I figure there may come a time when others might have a question about instruments.
Be it questions they might have about the instrument they want learn to play, or questions about what to upgrade to when that time comes. etc, etc. Hence, the reasons for this thread.

SO. I'll be the first to get the ball rolling with a question of my own.
I should be getting some cash coming my way at the end of the month.
Obviously, I'll be using some of it to get that guitar I've been talking about practically since I joined RE.
The acoustic I have now is, to put it bluntly, a cheap piece of a crap.
But I used it anyway, I did my best with it up until the first string broke.

To cut a long story short, (too late) I personally feel comfortable enough to go for an electric.
I know what to look for in an acoustic, (despite the fact that I ended with what I have now)
But I have no idea, what so ever, how to pick an electric. Much less an amp or any of that good stuff.
And I honestly haven't been able to find information that makes me feel satisfied.

So, RE... Share your wisdom with me and help this poor guitar n00b.

I shall share my wisdom with you now then XD

When choosing a guitar, it's important to get a feel for it, regardless of whether it's acoustic or electric. So when you go to the store ask to play them.
Or, even better still (this is what i did), i went and asked for some advice, i explained my situation and they gave me some choices with guitar and such.

If you don't feel confident in getting an electric, go and choose an acoustic because that is what you are used to. Electric guitars are high-maintenance, and require a lot of care and attention, not to mention money. You have to buy the amp, the leads and all the other stuff.

Personally, i'm not a huge fan of acoustics, i prefer electrics (I love my guitar, a LAG Jet in Golden Grey), but it's all about what you feel happy with.

Good luck [:

Wisdom from the great Charley! YAY!

I feel confident enough, I just didn't want to walk in there knowing nothing at all. I remembered I had a fairly new book on guitars and such(lol, go figure) so I hunted for it and am currently reading up.
And I kinda figured that they'd be high-maintenance. (though I had hoped otherwise)

I'll be sure to ask for advice when I get there. Even though I have the fear of picking the asshole of the joint. But I'll get over it.
I have one last question... What are "the leads"? It's probably something I've over looked, like it's right under my nose or something. But...

Nahh, don't feel stupid!

Leads are the wires which connect your Guitar to the Amp.
I don't know what other people call them, but they're known as leads to me.
